¿De qué sirve ir a la iglesia si luego vuelvo a pecar? El Papa lo explica

El Papa Francisco respondió a la pregunta “¿De qué sirve ir a la iglesia?”, si al salir de ella una persona vuelve a pecar.

La Santa Sede difundió este 19 de febrero el diálogo que el Papa Francisco sostuvo con un grupo de huérfanos de Bucarest (Rumania), el pasado 4 de enero, donde uno de ellos le preguntó “¿de qué sirve ir a la iglesia?”, si al salir la persona vuelve a pecar.

El encuentro tuvo lugar en el Vaticano y en este el Santo Padre respondió a las preguntas planteadas por algunos de los huérfanos. Estos niños y jóvenes son asistidos por la ONG “FDP protagonistas en la educación”.

“¿Por qué la vida es tan difícil y entre nosotros nos peleamos seguido? ¿Y nos enfrentamos? Ustedes los sacerdotes nos dicen que vayamos a la iglesia, pero inmediatamente cuando salimos cometemos pecados. Entonces, ¿para qué entré a la iglesia? Si yo considero que Dios está en mi alma, ¿por qué es importante ir a la iglesia?”, preguntó uno de los huérfanos.

En su respuesta, Francisco dijo: “Tus por qué tienen una respuesta: es el pecado, el egoísmo humano. Por esto –como tú dices– ‘nos peleamos seguido, nos enfrentamos’. Tú mismo lo has reconocido, que incluso si vamos a la iglesia y luego nos equivocamos, siempre seguimos siendo pecadores”.

“Entonces tú justamente te preguntas: ¿De qué sirve ir a la iglesia? Sirve para ponernos ante Dios así como somos, sin ‘trucarnos’, así como estamos ante Dios, sin trucos y decirle: ‘Aquí estoy Señor, soy pecador y te pido perdón. Ten piedad de mí’”.

Francisco dijo además que “si voy a la iglesia para hacer la finta de que soy una buena persona, esto no sirve. Si voy a la iglesia porque me gusta escuchar la música o porque me siento bien, no sirve. Sirve si al inicio, cuando entro a la iglesia puedo decir: ‘Aquí estoy Señor. Tú me amas y yo soy pecador. Ten piedad de nosotros’”.

El Papa resaltó luego que “si hacemos esto volveremos a casa perdonados, acariciados por Él, más amados por Él, sintiendo nuestra caricia, este amor. Así lentamente, Dios transforma nuestro corazón, con su misericordia, y también transforma nuestra vida”.

“No nos quedamos siempre iguales sino que Dios nos ‘trabaja’. Dios trabaja nuestro corazón y nosotros somos trabajados por Él como la arcilla en las manos del artesano, y el amor de Dios toma el lugar de nuestro egoísmo”.

Finalmente, el Papa Francisco subrayó: “Esta es la razón por la que creo que es importante ir a la iglesia: no solo mirar a Dios y dejarse mirar por Él. Esto pienso, gracias”.
